Aria

Type:
Wavetable
Chipset:
Aria
CD-ROM:
None (?)
Street price:
??
OS/2 Drivers:
Available
Drivers from:
OS/2 ftp: aria16.zip
Comments:
This is one of several Aria-based boards, but it is becoming difficult to find. Note that I've received one report of new problems with an Aria board under Warp 4.0 that didn't exist under Warp 3.0.

MMK4000

Type:
Wavetable (?)
Chipset:
CS4248 (?), OPTi 929
CD-ROM:
IDE, proprietary (Sony, Panasonic, Mitsumi) (??)
Street price:
??
OS/2 Drivers:
Available, IBM's MPU-401 driver needed for wavetable
Drivers from:
BBS, OS/2 ftp: 929_v2.zip or opti928.zip
Comments:
This is a multimedia kit which contains a card based upon the OPTi 928 chipset. I've received one report of a problem with this board and a "CH-498B" motherboard's AMI BIOS "Extended RAM Area" option; the default of "0:300" caused system traps, but resetting it to "DOS-1K" fixed this problem.

MMK7000

Type:
??
Chipset:
??
CD-ROM:
??
Street price:
??
OS/2 Drivers:
Available (MM930OS2.EXE)
Drivers from:
ftp://ftp.boulder.ibm.com/ps/products/os2/drivers/sound/, possibly also at http://www.diamondmm.com
Comments:
This is a multimedia kit about which I know very little, except that drivers do exist and reportedly do work, at least under Warp 3.0. The one report I've seen on this emphasizes the importance of following the driver installation instructions to the letter, however.
